Singapore Airlines typically hasn’t released long-haul premium cabin award seats to partners, and rather, you’ve been required to book using the airline’s own KrisFlyer loyalty program.
In a very welcome development, Singapore Airlines long-haul business class is now bookable using Aeroplan points!
Book Singapore Airlines Business Class with Aeroplan Points
In late November, there were reports of widespread availability for Singapore Airlines business class flights on Aeroplan. While a few people were able to confirm their flights, most people ran into “phantom” availability, which means they weren’t able to complete the booking process despite seeing award availability.
Earlier today, Singapore Airlines award flights were loaded into Aeroplan’s search engine, and we can confirm that this time, it’s not “phantom” availability.
You can now book Singapore Airlines business class flights between Singapore and many destinations throughout its network, including to many cities in North America.
Availability is good throughout the schedule, and if you’re flexible with your dates, you should be able to find the flight that you’re looking for.
Passengers departing from Vancouver can now fly directly to Singapore for 87,500 Aeroplan points.
The flight measures just 7,967 miles, which means that you have just over 3,000 miles of leeway before jumping to the next distance band on the Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart.
For example, you can continue onward to Bangkok, Perth, Bali, Manila, and many more destinations throughout Singapore Airlines’s vast network and still pay just 87,500 points. You could also add a stopover in Singapore before continuing onward for an additional 5,000 points.
One of the longest commercial flights in the world between New York (EWR) and Singapore (SIN) is also available for just 87,500 Aeroplan points. At just under 19 hours on the Airbus A350-900, that’s around 4,700 points per hour on one of the world’s best airlines.
This also represents another excellent way to get to Europe, with the fifth freedom flight from New York (JFK) to Frankfurt on the Airbus A380.
You might even find some space on the Singapore Airlines fifth freedom flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo, too.
This also represents a great way to bridge the gap between Asia and Europe, as Singapore Airlines serves many European destinations, such as London, Paris, Manchester, Rome, and Amsterdam.
There are many ways to take advantage of Singapore Airlines’s excellent onboard product with Aeroplan points, so keep an eye out for available flights as you’re planning travel in 2023 and beyond.
What Is Singapore Airlines Business Class Like?
There are several types of Singapore Airlines long-haul business class seats. The first is found on all Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and select Airbus A350s. Note that Singapore Airlines also has Airbus A350s with a different regional business class configuration.
Singapore Airlines’s Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 business class features direct aisle access from every seat, ample surface space, and a good amount of recline. The lie-flat bed is rather unique, as you have to flip the seat over so that the other side of the back rest becomes the bed area that you lie on.
This is the type of seat you’ll find on many North American routes, including the ultra-long-haul New York (EWR) – Singapore route.
While this seat no longer represents the airline’s best business class product, it’s still an exceptional hard product that comes with Singapore Airlines’s leading reputation for onboard service.
The second and arguably best type of Singapore Airlines long-haul business class is featured on most Airbus A380s. The renovated Airbus A380 aircraft also feature the famous double bed in the sky in Suites Class.
The newest A380 seat reclines into a fully lie-flat bed with the touch of a button, and the middle seats can combine to form a bed, too. This represents one of the best ways to enjoy a bed in the sky without flying in First Class.
If you’re flying with Singapore Airlines within Asia, keep an eye out for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner regional business class seat. It’s identical to the seat Turkish Airlines has chosen for their newest long-haul business class, and it’s an entirely comfortable way to fly.
Singapore Airlines is widely regarded for its quality food and beverage offering, and even offers passengers in premium cabins a wide choice of menu items that they can book online before the flight using the “Book the Cook” service.
With Book the Cook, passengers in Suites Class, First Class, business class, and premium economy can choose meals in advance with a much wider selection than the normal in-flight menu.
Book the Cook features a wide selection of delicious menu items to choose from. If you’re departing from Singapore, you’ll have the greatest selection of Western, Singaporean, Malay, and Thai menus.
You can browse through the menus online to get a sense of what’s being offered on flights.
If you have an upcoming flight with Singapore Airlines, be sure to check out the menu and reserve your meal before your flight.
Conclusion
In a very fortunate development, long-haul business class on Singapore Airlines can now be booked using Aeroplan points. This is indeed a momentous occasion, as Singapore Airlines has been very conservative with releasing long-haul premium cabin award space to partner airlines in the past.
This represents one of the best and most direct routes to Southeast Asia for North Americans that can be booked using points. Aeroplan members can also take advantage of adding a stopover for an additional 5,000 points to visit multiple destinations on the same trip.
When considering the best ways to take advantage of this opportunity, don’t overlook Singapore Airlines’s fifth freedom routes, such as New York (JFK) – Frankfurt and Los Angeles – Tokyo. Both provide an excellent transatlantic and transpacific routing, respectively, without having to go all the way to Singapore to try out one of the world’s best airlines.
What dates are you seeing the 87.5K points from YVR to SIN? I can’t seem to find any.
What dates are you seeing the business class from YVR on?
Hi T.J., this is great news. We already have plans to travel in 2023. Therefore, we are looking to book Singapore Airlines flights from YVR to SIN using our Aeroplan points in 2024. But, I heard that this is only up to October, 2023. Is this true? Thanks!
Hi T.J.,
This is great news. However, we already have plans to travel in 2023. So, I am hoping that we can still book Singapore Airlines flights around March, 2024 using our Aeroplan points. I heard it is only up to October, 2023. Is this true?
Thanks!
Thank you for the great post. I am getting cheap YVR->SIN, but if I add another segment, eg to Perth, then the Aeroplan search engine does not route me through SIN or if I force it with a SIN stopover it does not use the cheap Singapore Airlines seats. Does this mean I have to piece together an itinerary and phone the call center? Does PoT have a post on this I can refer to?
If you’re not getting the result from a direct search, find the individual segments and give Aeroplan a call. They should be able to piece it together for you.
