Video: Aeroplan’s Amazing 50% Miles Back Promotion

The golden age of Aeroplan is unfolding before our eyes. After the exciting addition of Etihad Airways as a new partner earlier this month, this week the program has announced its best-ever redemption offer: 50% Miles Back on Air Canada flights within Canada and the US!

To benefit from the 50% Miles Back, you’ll need to book before July 1 and travel between July 1 and October 15. The 50% mileage rebate will then be credited back to your account within three weeks after travel takes place.

In this video, we’ll walk through everything you need to know about this stunning promotion, including the award chart sweet spots that arise and the ability to combine long-haul and short-haul multi-city flights into one epic trip.

We’ll also discuss how these recent promotions and exciting developments fit into Air Canada and Aeroplan’s wider strategy as they build towards the launch of the new program in Quarter 4 of 2020.

I hope many of you are able to benefit from the Aeroplan 50% Miles Back promotion to slot in some memorable domestic trips this summer and fall!

If you pay with miles instead of cash for the tax portion, would you get 50% back of that as well or just the initial point cost?

    1. Ricky

Nope, only the initial point cost.

There’s some chatter on FT about Hawaii, not counting (only continental US). Any news on that front?

    1. Ricky YVR

I don’t see any mention of “continental” in the terms, and Aeroplan themselves have confirmed that Hawaii is included.

    Excellent video Ricky.
Can you cancel an existing booking and rebook to take advantage of the 50% bonus and how long does it take to get the points back on cancellation.
Is it possible to find flights from Toronto to Hawaii on Air Canada only? I assume United cannot be used on any segment?

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes, you should be able to cancel and rebook. Most data points have indicated that Air Canada reward space has gone back into the inventory immediately.

For Hawaii you’ll need to transit through Vancouver to stay on Air Canada-operated flights.
