Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is one of the most useful frequent flyer programs for travelling in premium cabins. The program offers a multitude of easy ways to earn miles, attractive redemption rates for premium flights to Asia that are among the lowest in the industry, and a wealth of airline partners including many of the world’s best.
In this video, we’ll go over everything you need to know about earning and redeeming Alaska miles, from the co-branded credit cards to the most compelling redemptions.
We’ll even take an in-depth look at special credit card strategies that are unique to MBNA, as well as how you should actually search for and book the best-value redemptions like business class and First Class flights on Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines.

Thank you for the video I have like 40,000 Alaska miles and I am trying to figure out how to use them.
Hey Ricky,
How do you find First Class in JAL?
It seems impossible to find one from Vancouver to Tokyo or Seoul?
They don’t fly First Class to Vancouver, so you’ll need to fly out of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York.
Don’t forget SQ! yes, it’s more expensive but worth it.
Damn Ricky! You are hitting home runs at each at bat.
Can you redeem the 50k in Cathay business from North America to Hong Kong and then To Dubai instead of South Africa?
Yes! It works the same way. Although it’s 62.5k in business, 70k in First Class.
