The Tangerine World Mastercard has a uniquely flexible rewards structure which you can tailor to your spending patterns. It’s not a superb travel card, but it’s a good no-fee option for insurance on other purchases.
Bonuses & Fees
The Tangerine World Mastercard® is offering 10% cash back on the first $1,000 spent within your first two months with the card, up to a total of $100.
That’s in addition to the regular earning rate, so you could earn up to 12% return on spend on some purchases.
There is no annual fee, and supplementary cards are also free.
Earning Rewards
The Tangerine World Mastercard earns 2% cash back on up to three categories of your choice:
- Groceries
- Furniture
- Restaurants
- Hotel/Motel
- Gas
- Recurring bill payments
- Drug Store
- Home Improvement
- Entertainment
- Public transportation & parking
It earns 0.5% cashback in all other categories.
2% cash back is a generous offering for a no-fee card and being able to select your preferred categories make this a good card for every person since each is able to select their 2% cashback categories to match their spending patterns.
All cardholders can select two bonus categories. Plus, if you have Tangerine Savings account, you can add a third category at the 2% rate.
Redeeming Rewards
Cash back is paid monthly, applied either directly to your credit card balance or into your Tangerine Savings account.
Perks & Benefits
This card includes a Mastercard Travel Pass by DragonPass membership, although visits are still $32 (USD) each. Also, this card offers a free Boingo Wi-Fi membership.
Insurance Coverage
Insurance is on par with the competition, with rental car insurance covering up to an MSRP of $65,000 and an extended warranty that doubles the manufacturer’s up to one additional year.
More interestingly, this card offers 90 days of purchase protection and mobile device protection to the tune of $1,000 every 2 years. In particular, mobile device insurance isn’t that common on cards with no annual fee, making this card stand out in that regard.
Hi, I had the basic Tangerine Mastercard previously that I cancelled about a year ago. I’m now applying for the World Mastercard. Am I still eligible to get the 10% rewards up to a maximum of $100?
