Toronto Miles & Points Meetup 2018

I have exciting news to share: the Toronto Miles & Points Meetup is back for a 2018 edition!

Join myself, your fellow Prince of Travel readers, and the wider Toronto travel community on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 5-7pm, at the 3 Brewers Adelaide in Downtown Toronto for an evening of food, drinks, and lively discussion on the latest tips and tricks in the world of travelling on points.

The 3 Brewers is located at 120 Adelaide St W, between Bay St and York St, and is a short walk away from both Osgoode and St. Andrew TTC stations.

The Event

I’ve decided to build upon the success of last December’s inaugural event and spruce things up a bit this time around. My intention behind last time’s event was simply to provide a shared occasion where the community could get together and mingle a bit. However, I didn’t quite anticipate just how sizable our contingent is here in Toronto, and the primary theme among the feedback I received from December’s event was that while people enjoyed themselves overall, they did feel as though they could’ve benefited from a more structured event.

In that respect, let me share with you what you can expect from the event on May 5.

We’ll begin with a short presentation from yours truly, with content geared towards everyone who’s interested in travelling on points, no matter where they are along the learning spectrum.

From what I hear, similar events in the past have sometimes struggled to cater to both beginners and experts, but I’m definitely up for the challenge. I stand by my knowledge, expertise, and the delivery of ideas in an easy-to-digest manner – all of which I aim to consistently provide to you guys here on the blog – as indicators of my ability to provide event attendees with an enjoyable and informative presentation.

That’ll be followed by a networking session for the rest of the evening, allowing you to meet like-minded travellers based here in Toronto and exchange tips, secrets, and strategies for extravagant globetrotting using points. As I’ve said before, in-person events such as this represent the best occasions to learn about “hidden” techniques such as manufactured spending, as well as other things that aren’t openly published on blogs and forums.

Oh, and one more thing… Jayce Loh, the founder of PointsNerd.ca, will be in attendance!

That’s right, our guest of honour is one of Canada’s most brilliant minds in Miles & Points, and indeed the man who inspired me to start this blog myself. While Jayce has “defected” to the other side to work for an airline these days, he still remains hugely active in the community and will be at this event, in the flesh, to share his wisdom with everyone.

Why You Should Attend

As I’ve said before, getting involved with Miles & Points helps you secure an incredible amount of freedom for yourself and your loved ones when it comes to travel.

For some, that freedom represents First Class flights around the world and staying in fancy hotels for little out-of-pocket cost, while others might rather use that freedom towards, say, getting together with their faraway family and friends on a more regular basis.

The idea is that playing this game redefines what’s possible, leaving the choice of what to do with that added freedom – where to go, how long to stay, etc. – in your hands.

Attending an in-person event like this accelerates your learning process by many orders of magnitude, because you get to learn firsthand from a large group of fellow practitioners here in Toronto. By connecting with other individuals who are just as passionate about travel, you’re able to absorb people’s experiences – both their success stories and their lessons learned – and pick up things a lot faster than by simply reading scattered anecdotes on blogs and forums.

Get Your Tickets Now

Naturally, as part of putting together a larger-scale event this time around, I’ve decided to introduce a modest ticket price to help cover the costs of organizing the event.

Tickets are $10 per person, and I’m confident that you’ll be getting excellent value for money given the wealth of knowledge and experience we have here in the community, the opportunity to interact with one of the biggest names in the scene and founder of a superb fellow Canadian blog, and of course the delicious nibbles and nosh to keep everyone sharp as we delve into the juicy travel talk.

If you’re interested in attending, please purchase your tickets using the Eventbrite below, or by following this link.

As before, if you’re relatively new to the wonderful world of Miles & Points and you’re interested in attending, by all means shoot me an email to get introduced. I’d love to answer any initial questions you may have, get to know your story, and figure out how I can best help you make your travel dreams a reality. And if anyone has any questions about the event, don’t hesitate to reach out as well, either via email or by commenting down below.

See you at the 3 Brewers Adelaide on May 5!

Great event and appreciate the time and effort put forth by the organizers! Felt good about meeting the Points nerd and the Prince I’d Travel on the same platform as well as got to network with a lot of like minded people in a common place (which is pretty hard to find in person and more often than not gets limited to online platforms).

As somebody new to collecting points on a Canadian landscape (had been doing it regularly back in My home country) would appreciate more such events in the future and in particular how to maximize points collection to start with without multiple card applications and using the existing set to the max.

Will attend. Looking forward to another geekfest, without the – 14c I was greeted with in YYC in October!

Would love to go, especially to learn of new MS techniques since AC Conversion is shut down. But I can’t justify spending 46,000 points or $650 to attend for a few hours. 🙁 Need to do a meeting in Moncton or Halifax!! 🙂

Look forward to meeting you in person Ricky … And others too!!
