CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card: Up to 40,000 Aeroplan Points + First-Year Annual Fee Rebate

The CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card is currently offering a welcome bonus with a maximum of 40,000 points.†

The structure of the current offer is as follows:

  • 10,000 Aeroplan points upon making your first purchase
  • 10,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $5,000 in the first four months
  • 20,000 Aeroplan points as an anniversary bonus upon spending at least $10,000 in the first year

In addition, this annual fee for the primary cardholder ($139) and the first three supplementary cardholders ($50) is rebated for the first year, which is a common and popular feature on this card.

As a reminder, the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card offers the following earning rates on everyday spending:

  • Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on eligible grocery, gas, electric vehicle charging, Air Canada, and Air Canada Vacations purchases
  • Earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases

Meanwhile, the card’s key benefits for cardholders include preferred pricing for Aeroplan redemptions on Air Canada flights, as well as a free first checked bag for you and your party of up to eight on Air Canada flights.

Lastly, the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card requires either $60,000 in annual personal income or $100,000 in annual household income to be eligible to apply.

CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card: Up to 60,000 Aeroplan Points

CIBC’s premium Aeroplan credit card – the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card – currently offers up to 60,000 Aeroplan points, distributed as follows:

  • 20,000 Aeroplan points upon first purchase†
  • 30,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $7,000 in the first four months†
  • 10,000 Aeroplan points upon renewing the card for a second year, after spending $15,000 in the first year†

As you can see, the lion’s share of this most recent welcome bonus continues to be the 50,000 Aeroplan points you’ll get under the four-month minimum spending window.

In addition, there’s a further 10,000 Aeroplan points that you can earn as an anniversary bonus, which are awarded in the second year as long as you’ve spent at least $15,000 on the card in the first 12 monthly statements.

The card’s earning rates are as follows:

  • Earn 2 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on eligible Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations purchases
  • Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on eligible grocery, gas, electric vehicle charging, travel, and dining purchases
  • Earn 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on other eligible purchases

In addition to the travel benefits offered by the lower-tier cards, the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card also comes with a DragonPass membership and six lounge passes per year, unlimited Maple Leaf Lounge access and priority airport services when flying with Air Canada, Aeroplan Elite Status benefits like rollover Status Qualifying Miles (SQM) and eUpgrades, and the ability to earn an Annual Worldwide Companion Pass upon spending $25,000 every year.

The CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card requires $150,000 in personal income or $200,000 in annual household income to qualify.

CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Card: 10,000 Aeroplan Points

The CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Card is the only no-annual-fee product among all Aeroplan co-branded credit cards.

As has been the case with the last few round of offers, this card continues to offer 10,000 Aeroplan points as a signup bonus, and preferred pricing on Air Canada flights as its sole meaningful benefit.

10,000 Aeroplan points is very much the standard ongoing offer on this card, while the other three products undergo rotating signup bonuses on a regular basis. As a no-fee product, there isn’t much room for the bonuses to swing too wildly anyway.

While the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Card doesn’t come with a lot of extra perks and benefits, it remains a good option for those of you who’d like to participate in the Aeroplan ecosystem without paying an annual fee, or for those who are building up a credit score.

This card requires a minimum household income of $15,000 to be eligible.

CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Business Card: Up to 60,000 Aeroplan Points

The CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Business Card, geared towards small business owners, continues to keep its welcome offer steady.

You’ll earn a total of up to 60,000 Aeroplan points, distributed as follows:

  • 10,000 Aeroplan points upon first purchase
  • 20,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $10,000 in the first four months
  • 30,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $40,000 in the first year

In this case, $40,000 is a very high spending threshold within one year for the final chunk of 30,000 Aeroplan points, so this component of the offer would be very much geared towards established businesses with higher spending volumes.

(Even then, earning only 30,000 points for spending $40,000 isn’t necessarily the best return.)

If you choose to focus only on the first two components, you’re looking at 30,000 Aeroplan points for spending $10,000 in the first four months.

The CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Business Card offers earning rates that are geared towards common spending categories for small businesses:

  • Earn 2 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on eligible Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations purchases
  • Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on eligible shipping, internet, cable, phone, dining, and travel purchases
  • Earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases

Meanwhile, the card’s key benefits for cardholders also mirror those of the Visa Infinite*: preferred pricing for Aeroplan redemptions on Air Canada, as well as a free first checked bag for you and your party on Air Canada flights.

Many applicants have reported pretty smooth experiences getting approved for the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa* Business both online and in-branch, although others have noted that the application process for this card can be quite cumbersome.

Prior to applying, be sure to familiarize yourself with the best practices for applying for business cards in order to maximize your odds of success.

For what it’s worth – i ended up on a page for the CIBC Infinite that gets you 35,000 points for the $15,000 spend instead of the 25,000…. Digital Exclusive Offer…

    1. Propguy99

This is what CIBC asked for when I applied – the whole thing wasn’t the best value proposition – $139 * 2 years * GST – for that amount of points – I sent them a page from last year’s tax return showing my income, if that’s not good enough, I don’t care…

We need one of the following sets of income documents:
      • Your most recent Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payment from the last 45 days and your EFT history for the last 6 months or
      • Your most recent pay stub from the last 45 days and one of the following:
      • Your most recent T4 or Relevé 1 if you live in Quebec
      • Your most recent notice of assessment from either the federal government or the Quebec government
      • Your most recent year-end pay stub listing your gross salary
      • A letter of employment listing your annual salary

With this reduction in bonus for the Aeroplane Infinite card would it be wise to assume a reduction in the bonus for the Aventura Infinite card may be next?

    1. Steve Camp

You never know. CIBC may want to promote its own Aventura program, and offer an increased incentive. We can only wait and see.

  3. Guy

Having received a Welcome bonus from a TD Aeroplan INfinite in the past, I understand from new Aeroplan’s terms that should’t apply for a CIBC Aeroplan Infinite… right?

  4. SamW

Hi guys, my apologies if this has already been answered. I just wanted to clarify for the Visa Infinite, it’s $1000 spending TOTAL in the first four months for the 10k points + Buddy Pass and not $1000 per month? Thank you in advance!

    1. Josh YVR

      That’s correct, just $1,000 total.
