The Aeroplan® Credit Card from Chase is the lone Aeroplan co-branded credit card available in the United States. It’s packed with features geared towards frequent flyers, and is a card that we strongly recommend.
The card’s current impressive welcome offer is for up to 100,000 Aeroplan points,† which is an easy way to boost your Aeroplan balance and elevate your experience with Aeroplan.
Aeroplan® Credit Card Offer: Up to 100,000 Aeroplan Points†
The current welcome offer for the Aeroplan® Credit Card is for up to 100,000 Aeroplan points,† which can be earned in two portions during your first year of card membership.
The first portion of 75,000 Aeroplan points is earned upon spending $4,000 (all figures in USD) in the first three months as a cardholder.†
Then, the second portion of 25,000 Aeroplan points is awarded after you spend over $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months as a cardholder.†
This welcome offer is tied with the previous all-time-high offer of 100,000 points, making this an excellent welcome bonus with a reasonable minimum spending requirement on the first portion, and an achievable minimum spending requirement for the second portion spread over 12 months.
We value Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents per point, and using this metric, we’d estimate the value of the welcome offer at $1,500, which is incredible.
With an annual fee of just $95,† if you’re able to meet the spending requirement for the entire welcome offer, you’re effectively acquiring 100,000 Aeroplan points at a cost of 0.1 cents per point, which is outstanding.
Even if you’re only able to meet the minimum spending requirement for the first tranche of points, you’ll still be earning 75,000 Aeroplan points at a cost of 0.13 cents per point, which is incredibly good.
You’ll also earn points through the regular category multipliers, earning 3 points per dollar spent on grocery stores†, at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services)†, and with Air Canada†.
As a Mastercard, this card will also let you enjoy much wider acceptance than with other issuers, which should aid you in easily meeting the minimum spending requirement.
Furthermore, you can earn 500 bonus Aeroplan points for every $2,000 spent each calendar month, for up to 1,500 points per month† on an ongoing basis.
To make matters even better, the Aeroplan® Credit Card doesn’t levy foreign transaction fees,† making it a great card to bring with you when traveling.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to redeem the Aeroplan points you earn through the card on Aeroplan bookings.
Last year, Chase introduced the “Pay Yourself Back” feature on the Aeroplan® Credit Card.
If you choose to redeem points this way, you can get 1.25 cents per point applied as a statement credit towards any purchase that codes as travel.†
You’re likely to get much better value by redeeming your points for premium cabin flights through Aeroplan; however, if these types of redemptions aren’t your cup of tea, at least you have another option available.
There’s no listed expiry date on this current offer.
Aeroplan® Credit Card: Spend Your Way to Elite Status
One of the best features on the Aeroplan® Credit Card is that as a new cardmember, you automatically enjoy Aeroplan 25K status for the remainder of the calendar year, and you can maintain this status into the following year by spending $15,000 on the card in a calendar year.†
Aeroplan 25K status earns you up to 25 eUpgrade credits per year, allowing you to score instant upgrades from economy class to business class on Air Canada flights, if you play your cards right.
Furthermore, cardholders who spend $50,000 within one calendar year will earn a one-time status bump through the following year via the Elite Status Level Up benefit.†
Combined with the $15,000 spending threshold for Aeroplan 25K, this means that spending $50,000 on the Aeroplan® Credit Card is the only sure-fire way to earn at least Aeroplan 35K status year after year without necessarily having to fly.
Furthermore, if you’re someone who tends to earn Aeroplan 75K status every year, but doesn’t quite reach the 20,000 Status Qualifying Dollar threshold to reach Super Elite, then the Elite Status Level Up benefit can bring you up to Super Elite without having to fulfill the regular requirements.
In fact, this is arguably the easiest and most accessible way to reach Air Canada’s top-tier status, since you can effectively do so by organically qualifying for Aeroplan 75K status and spending $50,000 on the Aeroplan® Credit Card to unlock the Elite Status Level Up benefit.
Conclusion
The Aeroplan® Credit Card from Chase is currently offering an exceptional welcome offer of up to 100,000 Aeroplan points, earned in two portions, if you’re able to meet the minimum spending requirements.†
This is an excellent opportunity to grow your Aeroplan account balance while also enjoying the card’s great perks and benefits.
If you’re in the market for a new travel-focused credit card, you should certainly consider adding the Aeroplan® Credit Card to your wallet.

Applied for this about 11-12 days ago have not heard a peep back . Any idea how long it usually takes for a decision ?
If it were to be approved, it shouldn’t take more than a few days. Now that it has been so long, it is most likely rejected. Give them a call and say you would like to follow up with the application and inquire if there is any other things you can provide to facilitate the application process
Hello,
Upon clicking the aeroplane chase credit card I only see a 60,000 sign up bonus and not the 100,000 aeroplan points. Am I doing something wrong?
Provided I can get this card if I have a U.S. address, can I get a Canadian Aeroplan card at the same level (TD Aeroplan infinite) at the same time, or should I wait a year between applying, or neither to get both bonus offers?
The 2 cards are from 2 different countries, so it should not matter. If you would like to play it safe, spread out the applications apart by a few months should be fine
Thanks! I was thinking that Aeroplan might not like bonuses going to the same Aeroplan account within a short timeframe, even if the cards are from different countries. Another question: once you receive the 25k status through the Chase card, do you get the eUpgrades immediately?
Hi Ricky,
To maximize the 25k benefit, I guess people should apply on Jan 1 to get 2 yrs’ status, right? Also is the 3x multiplier applicable to Canadian (and overseas) purchases e.g. grocery stores, coffee shops, etc?
Indeed, Jan 1 is the most ideal date to get approved of this card for the 25k purpose. Additionally, the 3x also applied to overseas, since there’s no exclusion clause in the Terms and Conditions. Just be mindful that the 3x, from Canadian perspective, is more like 2.22x because of the currency exchange rate – 1USD=0.74CAD.
Thanks Christopher for the confirmation and reminder. Yes indeed the FX rate make the multiplier less appealing but still good to know for the MSR (better than Canadian AP cards which have 1.5x for groceries).
Not a problem at all!
Now if you are planning to have a card for grocery spending with the best multiplier in getting Aeroplan Points in Canada, then the best one would be The American Express Cobalt Card issued in Canada, as it has 5x for C$1 spend in grocery and F&B, more than double the Chase Aeroplan Card.

If you plan to spend in Costco, just be reminded that costco is not categorized as Grocery store, so it would end up less than 1x if you use the Chase card over there.
However, if you plan to use a Mastercard in Loblaw’s chain of grocery names, then you are covered with the 3x per US$1.
Hope this helps!
Hi- great article! This is an enticing offer. Any guess as to how long the current welcome bonus might last? Thanks!
does it work with PPP?
