The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, a flagship travel rewards credit card issued by JPMorgan Chase in the US, has launched a welcome bonus of 60,000 bonus points.†
This is a solid opportunity for anyone who’s looking to rack up points for a future trip, given how versatile Ultimate Rewards points are.
Welcome Offer of 60,000 Bonus Points
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is often considered the ideal introductory card in Chase’s overall credit card portfolio, and it’s a very popular starting point for Americans who engage in the Miles & Points game.
With the latest welcome bonus, you’ll earn 60,000 bonus points upon spending $4,000 (all figures in USD) in the first three months as a cardholder†.
The card has an annual fee of $95, which is not waived for the first year.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card has no foreign transaction fees, which is a popular feature that you can benefit from when traveling abroad.†
Redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
Chase’s Ultimate Rewards points program has a variety of frequent flyer partners, which generally represent the most valuable way to spend your points. A few redemption possibilities might include:
- World of Hyatt: Redeem points at a great value for Hyatt hotel stays
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club: 72,500–85,000 miles would be enough for a one-way flight to Japan in ANA First Class
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer: The only program that can book a vast majority of Singapore Airlines’ luxurious premium cabins
Out of the above, the Hyatt partnership arguably offers the greatest “comparative advantage” when redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
That’s because Chase Ultimate Rewards is the only major transfer partner of the World of Hyatt program, whereas the other transfer possibilities can be accessed through alternative means.
Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines miles can be accessed through other points currencies, while Avianca LifeMiles and United miles can be redeemed towards the same flights that you could book through the easier-to-earn Aeroplan program.
In addition, Chase Ultimate Rewards points can also be converted to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio.
Conclusion
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, long considered the best starting point within Chase’s credit card portfolio, is offering 60,000 bonus points upon spending $4,000 in the first three months.†
While this isn’t an all-time-high welcome bonus on this card, it’s still a solid offer, so it’s not a bad time to take action and apply if you’re eligible.
†Terms and conditions apply. Please refer to the card issuer’s website for up-to-date information.
Are the points multipliers valid for Canadian use or only in the US?
Does chase do any additional verification such as requiring you to upload a utility bill? If so, any way around that?
They’ll typically also accept a residential lease agreement.
14 months of solid US credit history with no missed payments and I was still declined for this offer. Be warned, Chase can be hard asses about approvals.
I had the same experience 🙁 Some DPs suggest that with the new chequing account ‘score’ history in the US that it’s been easier to be approved
Hello,
Thank you for the great post. I just applied and received the following message not like 7 days or 30 days. I already have Chase IHG through ITIN.
Should I simply wait or need to call Chase?
Thank you
