From now until November 30, 2021, TD Aeroplan cardholders can earn 10–20x Aeroplan points on Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations purchases, up to $1,000 spent per card, for a total of up to 20,000 Aeroplan points on the premium and small business cards.

This is a repeat round of an identical promotion that we saw earlier this year, from August 23 to October 1, 2021.
Cardholders who had taken advantage of the previous round of the promotion are still eligible for this round, and should make sure to register again.
Earn Up to 20,000 Aeroplan Points on Air Canada
After registering, upon spending $1,000 with Air Canada or Air Canada Vacations before November 30, cardholders will earn:
- TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card: 10 Aeroplan points per dollar spent, up to 10,000 Aeroplan points
- TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card: 15 Aeroplan points per dollar spent, up to 15,000 Aeroplan points
- TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card: 20 Aeroplan points per dollar spent, up to 20,000 Aeroplan points
- TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card: 20 Aeroplan points per dollar spent, up to 20,000 Aeroplan points
It’s important to note that this round of bonus points on Air Canada purchases from TD is inclusive of the regular earning rate, rather than in addition to the regular earning rate.
We can therefore also think of the offers as 9x, 13.5x, and 18x bonus points on top of the cards’ regular earning rates, respectively.
You’ll also notice that the promotion is advertised as a blanket “10x points”, which refers to the fact that the standard earning rates on each of the four cards are magnified by 10x during the promotion period (the Platinum’s 1x becomes 10x, the Infinite’s 1.5x becomes 15x, etc.)
These bonus amounts can take 6–8 weeks after the offer period to be deposited into your Aeroplan account. As with most promotions of this nature, the points you earn should count towards your Everyday Status Qualification, giving you a boost of up to 20% of the way to Aeroplan 25K status.
What’s more, this offer can be combined with a previous offer for statement credits on Air Canada purchases, which required registration by June 30, 2021. If you had registered, you have until December 31, 2021 to book up to five flights and earn up to $125 or $250 in a statement credits on a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card or TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card, respectively.
In addition to Air Canada flight bookings or vacations packages, taxes and fees on Aeroplan awards should also count towards this promotion, as they’re processed directly as Air Canada purchases as well.
Even if you’re booking some award flights rather than paid flights, it makes sense to put the taxes and fees to a TD Aeroplan credit card to earn 10–20x points during this promotion period.
Don’t Forget: Converting Air Canada Tickets to Aeroplan Points
Even if you don’t have any upcoming trips planned for which you’re looking to book paid flights with Air Canada, this 10–20x bonus miles promotion could represent an easy route towards buying Aeroplan points on the cheap.
That’s because until December 31, 2021, under Air Canada’s flexible booking policy, you can convert the value of your Air Canada ticket into Aeroplan points with a 65% bonus if you change your travel plans.
Let’s do some math here: if you purchased a $1,000 Air Canada ticket with a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege or TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card (on any route and class of service; it doesn’t really matter since this will only be a dummy booking), you’d earn 20,000 Aeroplan points on your purchase from the credit card under the promotion’s terms.
Upon completing your purchase, you could then convert this ticket into Aeroplan miles with a 65% bonus on top of the standard rate of 3 cents per point (cpp).
If your Aeroplan account is registered under a valid foreign address, then you don’t pay any sales taxes on this conversion, so it’d be a flat rate of 1.8cpp. A $1,000 ticket would therefore convert into 55,550 Aeroplan points (since the conversion rounds down to the nearest 10 miles).
In total, you’d have earned 75,550 Aeroplan points for $1,000 in spend, which is an effective rate of 1.32cpp (CAD). That’s not a bad rate at which to buy Aeroplan points at all, especially if you’ve got your eye on one of Aeroplan’s best sweet spots in the future.
Of course, I never recommend that you speculatively purchase points without a high-value use in mind.
But if you did want to boost your Aeroplan account as quickly as possible with a target redemption in mind, then 1.32cpp (CAD) is as low of a purchase price as we’ve ever seen.
Also: 15% Off Base Fares with Air Canada
Concurrently, Air Canada is also offering a blanket 15% discount on base fares in economy class, premium economy, and business class within Canada, the US, and to Sun destinations.
The promotion code can be found directly on the TD offer page, and you must book by November 12, 2021 for travel by June 30, 2022. While this sale is being advertised as part of the same TD offer, it doesn’t seem like you need to be a current TD Aeroplan cardholder, nor pay with your TD Aeroplan card, to take advantage of the discount code.
The following blackout dates do apply, corresponding to the winter and Spring Break holidays:
- December 16, 2021, to January 6, 2022
- February 26 to March 20, 2022
If you have any upcoming intra-North America trips with Air Canada over the upcoming period, now may be a good time to lock in a booking, taking advantage of both the 15% discount and the 10x bonus miles for paying with a TD co-branded credit card.
If you change your mind, you always have the option of converting into a flexible Air Canada Travel Voucher or converting the value of your ticket into Aeroplan miles at the very favourable effective rate, as discussed above.
Conclusion
Until November 30, 2021, you’ll earn 10–20x Aeroplan points on up to $1,000 in Air Canada purchases if you pay with a TD Aeroplan co-branded credit card.

A note on the bonus miles calculation, when speaking to AC over the phone, the numbers they give are different. I tried different provinces as points of origin, and the highest I could get from them for a $1000 ticket was close to 52k and change.

Think AC gift cards work? T&Cs seem to suggest it would since any purchase “made directly with Air Canada for Air Canada products and services completed online at aircanada.com” would count
AC gift cards are processed by an external vendor (Buyatab Inc.) so unfortunately they wouldn’t count. On the other hand, if you purchased a dummy flight and decided to cancel, you could choose to receive an Air Canada Travel Voucher, which functions exactly like a gift card for all intents and purposes (or you could choose the Aeroplan points with 65% bonus as mentioned in the article).

It would be a separate thing, so you’d earn 20x + the extra 2x from the signup bonus = 22x in total on that $1,000 in spend.

Checking my logic here- if I booked a trip now for sometime before June 30 2022 to earn the bonuses, but later determined that it would be better for my schedule to travel in October, can I use the free itinerary change to switch the flights to October, pay the difference if any, but keep the bonuses that applied as if the flight was before the end of June?
You’ll keep the 10–20x points that you earn on the TD card, because that’s just based on your purchase date, not your travel date. But for the 15% discount code, I’d imagine that pushing the travel date beyond June 2022 would fall outside of the validity period, so you’d probably pay that difference as part of the overall fare difference at the time.
Could something like the refundable hotel trick work? Buy a comfort or latitude flight departing months from now, collect bonus, cancel for cash refund?

But your description says “converting the value of your ticket into Aeroplan miles with 65% bonus”. Doesn’t that mean that the bonus is 65% of $1000? and not 65% of 15,000?
It means a 65% bonus on top of the standard price for purchasing Aeroplan points (3 cents per point), which results in a purchase price of 1.8 cents per point. If you were to take $1,000 and purchase Aeroplan points at 1.8 cents per point, you’d get 55,550 Aeroplan points. Add in the 15,000 points you earn from the promotion, and that’s 70,550 points in total.

I just got my 20k Aeroplan points post from the Vancouver hotel stay 3 nights deal. I checked my EDQ total and it did not seem to budge it, unless it adds when the month is done?
That’s a promotional lump-sum bonus, which tends not to count towards EDQ. This one’s a credit card spend-based bonus, which should count (I’ve confirmed with AC).
I just booked three business class flights YYZ-LHR next August on points, and elected to reduce the points paid by paying a larger slice as cash, and paid with the TD Visa Inf. Priv. I figured that I’d effectively be buying AP points from AC at 1.8 cents, and a further 20000 points on the first $1000 in spend and 2 further AP points on the rest of the cash paid based on the TD promotion.
Here is the question. In the T&C, there is no mention of any date restrictions regarding when the flights are to be taken (the only mention is the booking date before Oct 1, 2021). Yet in the bold print at the top of the page, there is a mention of book by Sept 6 for travel by June 30.
My assumption is that the bold print refers only to the 15% discount on cash fares and doesn’t refer to restrictions on the flight dates for the AP bonus.
Is there any way to clarify this?
The bold print refers to the 15% discount code. There’s no “travel by” date for the 10x points on $1,000 spend because the purchase simply needs to appear on your credit card by October 1.
Would cancelled AC flights still qualify as points for “everyday status qualification”? Ie. Can I book a flight, cancel and convert it to points but still have the cost of the flight credited as “qualifying miles” towards Aeroplan 25k status?

Careful…on conversion of ticket value to Aeroplan points you DO pay sales tax rate of the jurisdiction where you Aeroplan account is registered. At least this is my recent experience with my account being registered to the UK.
Interesting, did you get charged 20% VAT? We’ll have to await some data points from US-based Aeroplan members to see what gets charged, although I’d be surprised if anything got charged since Aeroplan points purchases through Points.com are still subject to no tax with a US billing address.

Hi Ricky, would you recommend cancel my flight in Dec booked with aeroplan and re-book it to grab all the bonuses (AP and cash) with cash? The concern I have is that the pandemic is still precarious and that’s why I booked with points in the first place. But all these bonuses seem too good to be missed. I am torn here.
I have the TD Visa Infinite and received 10x (not 15x).
It’s advertised as 10x in the sense that you get 10x the standard earning rate for Air Canada purchases on whichever card you hold. With the Infinite, you normally get 1.5x, so you’ll get 15x under the promotion.
