Emirates Launches New Dubai–Montreal Route

Ever since Transport Canada announced an expanded air transport agreement between Canada and the United Arab Emirates, there has been a flurry of new and enhanced route announcements. We first saw Emirates and Etihad Airways expand to offer daily service to Toronto (YYZ), and then Air Canada launched a new route between Vancouver (YVR) and Dubai (DXB).

In the latest development, Emirates has revealed that as of July 5, 2023, it will offer daily service between Dubai (DXB) and Montreal (YUL).

Emirates’s New Dubai–Montreal Route

The new route that will connect Montreal (YUL) with Dubai (DXB) is set to begin on July 5, 2023 on a daily basis. This will complement Emirates’s existing daily service to Toronto (YYZ).

The scheduled flight times are as follows:

  • EK243 Dubai (DXB) to Montreal (YUL), departing 2:30am and arriving 8am
  • EK244 Montreal (YUL) to Dubai (DXB), departing 10:20am and arriving 6:30am the next day

Westbound, the early-morning arrival in Montreal will facilitate further connections to other destinations in Canada and the United States with Air Canada. It’s a similar story eastbound, as passengers will be able to easily access flights to destinations in Emirates’s widespread network.

The flight from Dubai (DXB) to Montreal (YUL) measures 13 hours and 30 minutes in duration, while the flight from Montreal (YUL) to Dubai (DXB) clocks in at just over 12 hours.

The route will be operated by the three-cabin Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which features eight First Class suites, 42 lie-flat seats in business class, and 304 seats in economy.

The flights are already loaded in and bookable through Emirates’s sales channels.

Booking Emirates’s New Dubai–Montreal Route

Aside from paying cash for this new route, you will also be able to redeem Aeroplan points to get between Montreal and Dubai with Emirates.

The distance between the two cities is roughly 6,611 miles, which is important to know as you plan out your redemption.

Recall that Emirates is subject to its own pricing chart for Aeroplan redemptions. A direct flight on this new route falls within the third distance band, which means that you’ll pay 40,000–85,000 points for a flight in economy, 80,000–185,000 points for a flight in business class, and 225,000–475,000 points for First Class.

At the time of writing, the flights haven’t been loaded into the Aeroplan search engine; however, we’ll be sure to update this article once they have.

Another option would be to redeem Emirates Skywards miles for the flight. Unfortunately, Montreal hasn’t yet been loaded into the search engine at the time of writing; however, we’ll be sure update this article once it has.

In either event, you may want to consider routing via Toronto or any of the US hubs to which Emirates flies the Airbus A380. It has a superior product across all classes, included the ubiquitous onboard bar for passengers flying in business class and First Class.

Conclusion

Emirates has announced that it will soon offer flights between Dubai (DXB) and Montreal (YUL). As of July 5, 2023, the UAE-based airline will offer daily service between the two cities.

This marks the second destination in Canada to which Emirates operates flights, and comes on the heels of the expanded air transport agreement between Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

The flights are loaded into Emirates’s search engine, and can already be booked throughout the schedule.
