Video: Japan Airlines 787 Business Class, Tokyo to Seattle

I flew Japan Airlines 787 business class using Cathay Pacific Asia Miles en route back from my Spring 2021 trip to Asia.

Japan Airlines offers the world-famous Apex Suites in business class, giving you total privacy in the window seat. This was my second long-haul journey on this product, and the nine-hour journey from Tokyo to Seattle seemed to fly by.

After landing, I also had to cross the land border from Seattle to Vancouver to get home and avoid Canada’s three-night hotel quarantine for inbound air passengers.

    Hey Ricky,
Just wondering what’s the entry requirement for HK?
Do you use a SAR passport to get in?
I thought HK is only open for residence.

Yep, residents only for now. I used my HKID.

        Good for you!

Thanks for sharing your trip! I am actually thinking about doing the same route as you from HKG back to US either SEA or SAN via NRT on CX/JL. Any advice on the transit experience at NRT?

    Thanks again!

Not too much to comment on, it was as smooth a transit experience as the old days. Follow the signs, through security, back in the departure zone, and to the lounges.

Cool… Good to know about it. I have more confidence in transiting through Narita now. I heard most of the shops remain closed now but at least the JAL First Class lounge is still opened, as well as the sushi bar. I presume you will not do a report on CX flight from HKG to NRT, but was there any major change to their inflight service on that flight, or is the service same as usual?

        Thanks again!

Yep, most of the shops were closed, although a few duty free outlets were open.
To be honest I slept through the entire flight so missed everything, but I know they offered a meal service (which I just happened to sleep through).

I see you’ve caught on that the SEA and SAN flights are the only ones that align with the HKG flight’s arrival time too – a shame because I would’ve loved to have taken JAL First to LAX (and there was space available!)
